This book introduces the reader to the collection of Russian tiles at the Russian Ethnographic Museum. It presents over 120 items, most of which are published for the first time.
The main part of the publication is preceded by an article by Doctor of Science, a well-known specialist in the history of Russian tiles, S. I. Baranova, who tells about the origins of interest in studying tiles and the creation of the first museum collections. The book provides an outline of the history of tile making in Russia and provides information on the main stages in the formation of the REM collection. The articles are illustrated with numerous photographs, both archival and modern. The book ends with a section describing the restoration process of an old tile panel.
