Clifford Simak is one of the founding fathers of modern fiction, the giant writers, thanks to whom in American literature there is a concept of the “golden age of the NF”. At the beginning of his literary career, Saymak wrote "solid" science fiction and adventure works, as well as westerns, but then pushed the boundaries of the NF genre and created his own style, which critics called soft, humanistic and even pastoral, comparing Simak's prose with Bradbury's prose. World fame brought him a novel in the novels “City” (the title novel is included in this collection). For fifty-five years, Saymak wrote about thirty novels and more than one hundred and twenty short stories. He was awarded Hugo, Nebula, Locus and others. He was awarded the title of Grand Master of the Nebula Prize.
