Although William Genrikhovich Fisher (1903-1971) is the most famous Soviet intelligence officer of the post-war era, his name is not widely known. After all, he was a Soviet intelligence resident in the United States from 1948 to 1957, and went down in history as Rudolf Ivanovich Abel. Much of the legendary intelligence officer's biography remains top secret. This book provides readers with as much information as possible about William Genrikhovich's life. While working on the book, writer and journalist Nikolai Dolgopolov, winner of the All-Russian Alexander Nevsky Historical and Literary Prize and the SVR Prize, spoke with many people who knew William Genrikhovich. The story includes unique memoirs from the daughters of William Fisher, his colleagues – the now deceased Heroes of Russia Vladimir Barkovsky, Leontyne and Morris Cohen, as well as other renowned intelligence officers, including some whose names remain “closed.”
