The 1917 Revolution is a frequent subject of study for modern historians. But to what extent have they come closer to understanding its nature in more than a hundred years? Vladimir Buldakov believes that modern social science tends to glide over the surface of external events instead of penetrating into the essence of one of the major tectonic shifts in Russian history. Using archival documents, diaries and memoirs of contemporaries, he - contrary to popular interpretations - seeks to show that the revolution was not subject to political logic, but was rather a spontaneous uprising, for the reality of which the country was not prepared. That is why Buldakov refuses attempts to describe the revolution as a managed project and offers the reader an emotional chronicle of the events. This chronicle is intended to answer the question: how did the utopia of the world revolution become covered with the bloody fog of the "Red Troubles"? Vladimir Buldakov is a doctor of historical sciences, chief researcher at the Center for the Study of Modern Russian History and Political Science. He is the author of several hundred works on the history of Russia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
