Radio intelligence in two world wars and the Cold War
29.99 €
At the beginning of the 20th century, radio communications became the primary means of operational control of armed forces on the battlefield. A radiogram containing an order could be transmitted almost instantly to those responsible for its execution. A radiogram containing a report, meanwhile, provided timely information on the situation at the front to military commanders located at considerable distances. At the same time, effective methods for intercepting radiograms and breaking the codes used to encrypt them were developed. This resulted in the development of signals intelligence, a form of intelligence activity that involves collecting classified information from intercepted enemy radiograms. During the two bloodiest and most devastating world wars in human history, as well as the Cold War, signals intelligence played a vital role not only on the battlefield but also in the offices of statesmen and diplomats.
The next book in the series explores this.
