The Truth About Robinson and Friday

Charles Buffet's book, "The Truth about Robinson Crusoe and Friday," opens the "Great Expeditions in Small Format" series. For 20 years, the author chronicled his travels for daily newspapers (Libération, Le Monde) and specialized publications, and also published reports on his travels in geographical journals (Geo, XXI). Buffet writes books about mountaineers, adventurers, and famous explorers of the planet.
For this book, the author, fascinated by the story of the "real" Robinson Crusoe, found and translated original accounts from eyewitnesses of the time: Woodes Rogers, William Funel, John Welbe, Basil Ringrose, and William Dampier. He comments on them to better understand the incredible experience of sailor Alexander Selkirk, which became one of the most powerful and vivid stories for centuries thanks to the pen of Daniel Defoe.
