Clifford Simak is one of the founding fathers of modern science fiction, a colossal writer who gave birth to the term "golden age of sci-fi" in American literature. Early in his literary career, Simak wrote hard science fiction and adventure stories, as well as Westerns, but he later expanded the boundaries of the sci-fi genre and created his own style, which critics called soft, humanistic, and even pastoral, comparing Simak's prose to that of Ray Bradbury. Over fifty-five years, Simak wrote approximately thirty novels and over one hundred and twenty short stories. He was awarded the Hugo, Nebula, Locus, and other awards. He was also named a Nebula Grandmaster. This collection includes four novels from Clifford Simak's late career.
