By tracing the intertwining of their scientific and life paths, the author places “scientific turns” in historical context and helps to understand how the ideas, methods, and practices of genetics, botany, or computer science became relevant to historians, as well as the influence of history on these sciences. Elena Aronova is a professor in the Department of History at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
