In the fall of 1912, the First Balkan War began - Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece and Montenegro jointly opposed and defeated the Ottoman Empire. However, the intervention of external players, primarily Austria-Hungary, and unresolved issues of territorial demarcation in the Balkans quickly provoked conflict among the Allies, which culminated in the Second Inter-Allied Balkan War in the summer of 1913. This book is a republication of articles from Russian newspapers of different political directions for 1912-1913, devoted to the collapse of the Balkan Union and the war between its participants over the division of Macedonian lands conquered from the Turks. The main themes are the search for right and wrong in the dispute over Macedonia, the horror of a fratricidal war and disillusionment with the Slavic idea.
