The Russian army on the way to the Indus (military and political plans of the 19th – early 20th centuries)
14.99 €
The monograph is devoted to the confrontation between Russia and Britain in the Central Asian region and the development of plans for a military campaign by the Russian army in India, which existed throughout the 20th century and until an agreement was reached between these countries on the division of spheres of influence in the Asian region in 1907. These plans were initially conceived as a counter-game in order to reduce the pressure of the British on Russia in the Balkans and the Black Sea region, but later some military men and politicians began to proceed from the fact that a blow in India could put an end to Britain as a great world power. The monograph is written on the basis of a large body of materials from Russian archives, scientific research, memoir literature and is intended for both specialists in the history of the countries of the East and Russia, students of historical faculties, faculties of oriental studies, and for history buffs.
